Structural and functional dysfunctions of the liver and gallbladder; hepatopathy; cholecystitis, biliary calculi, anomalies of biliary secretion; bitter taste in the mouth; hepatitis; abdominal swelling; premature satiety, post-prandial fatigue, lack of appetite; flatulence, constipation; irritation; hypochondria.

Mode of action

Carduus marianus: Pain in the liver, marked when lying on the left side; jaundice; biliary calculi, cholangitis; acute hepatitis.

Chelidonium: Swelling of the liver with the sensation of pressure on the liver and biliary vessels, with extension to the right shoulder blade; right upper quadrant pain; cholagogue.

China: Meteorism, bloating, and distension of the abdomen, flatulent colic; gallbladder disease, gallbladder colic; hepatitis, hepatomegaly.

Cholesterinum: Chronic enlargement of the liver, jaundice, and formation of gallstones; prevents the recurrence of gallstones.

Colocynthis: Cramp-like abdominal pain; pain is relieved by strong pressure on abdomen, and by bending double; gallbladder colic, cholecystitis.

Lycopodium clavatum: Meteorism and flatulence; bitter taste in the mouth; constipation; increased appetite, but early satiety; irritability.

Nux vomica: Hypochondria; hepatic constriction and congestion; nausea; jaundice; gastrointestinal dyspep-sia; constipation, hemorrhoids; abuse of all stimulants (i.e. tobacco, alcohol, etc.).

Remedies to be considered

  • Drainage remedy

  • Inflammatory conditions of the liver and biliary vessels: R1 additionally

  • Cholecystitis: R1

  • Simultaneous gastric condition (gastritis, ulcers); administer R5 in alternation, and in addition to R7, BC-25

  • Ulcers: administer 5-10 drops of R5 3 times daily before meals, and 5-10 drops of R7 2-4 times daily between meals, BC-25

  • Hemorrhoids: R13 additionally, BC-17

  • Bilious colic and gastric spasms: R37 or R37 JUNIOR (in alternation with R7), BC-3

  • Pancreatitis: R72

  • Hypoglycemic symptoms: BIO 86

  • For digestive enzymatic aid: BIO 92

  • Indigestion caused by sluggish liver and gallbladder: R192

Clinical experience

  • As a drainage remedy, 5-10 drops 3 times daily. Duration of treatment is typically 6 weeks, but symptoms should be monitored so that it may be adjusted accordingly.

  • Important to consider in the treatment of digestive disorders, skin problems, chemotherapy patients, patients on heavy meds, toxic load, allergies.

Carduus marianus D2 1 g, Chelidonium D2 1 g, China D3 1 g, Cholesterinum D6 1 g, Colocynthis D6 1 g, Lycopodium clavatum D4 1 g, Nux vomica D4 1 g.

Non-medicinal ingredients: ethanol, purified water.

Non-medicinal ingredients: croscarmellose sodium, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate.

Dosage | Drops

Adults and children (ages 12 and up) 10-15 drops 1-3 times daily; acute cases: 10-15 drops 3-6 times daily in a little water or undiluted, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Dosage | Tablets

Adults and children (ages 12 and up) 1-3 tablets 1-3 times daily or as directed by a health care practitioner.

Cautions and warnings

Drops: Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen. Control of liver parameters if used longer than 4 weeks.

Tablets: Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen; before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Drops: Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use if you are hypersensitive to quinine.

Known adverse reactions

Drops: May cause liver disorder in some people. Consult a health care practitioner immediately if you develop any of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite combined with itching, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine.
