Homeopathic Medicine

R3 | Cardiac fatigue

Indications

Cardiac insufficiency of a mild to moderate degree, with a tendency towards edema; myocardial weakness due to valvular heart conditions; dilatation of the myocardium.

Post-infectious myocardial weakness; degenerative processes of the myocardium; coronary insufficiency; cardiac infarction; myo/endocarditis; hypotonia; functional disturbances of the heart.

Mode of action

As a whole, functions to tonify and strengthen the myocardium.

Arsenicum album: Myocardial weakening, particularly in the left ventricle, causing orthopnea and breathing difficulties, and accompanied with great restlessness and anxiety, usually around midnight; general exhaustion.

Cactus grandiflorus: Pressure in the chest with symptoms of angina pectoris; elevated pulse; sensation of suffocation and oppression (feeling as though heart is being held in a vice).

Crataegus: Myodegeneration; cardiopathy with cardiac weakness; enfeeblement of the heart during or following infectious disease. Painful spasms; hypotension, an inability to maintain adequate circulation; functional disturbances of the heart.

Digitalis: Heart failure with cardiac dilatation; sensation as if the heart is "standing still".

Kalium carbonicum: Weakness of the heart and the cardiovascular system in endo/myocarditis. Sharp pain in the heart; tendency towards edema.

Kalmia: Pains extending down the left arm. Chronic cardiac weakness with breathing difficulties. Acute and chronic endocarditis, following gout or rheumatism (rheumatic carditis).

Phosphorus: Heart palpitations, primarily while resting on the left side; congestive flushing of blood to the chest, with suffocation and anxiety; right heart failure. General nervous exhaustion and hypersensitivity.

Scilla: Insufficiency of the cardiovascular system with dysrhythmia and decompensation.

Spigelia anthelmia: Severe palpitations which are visible and perceptible; weak pulse; endo/myocarditis.

Strophanthus: Immediate acting heart tonic; cardiac decompensation; palpitations and tachycardia.

Remarks

According to the severity of the cardiac fatigue, 10-20-30 drops in some water 3 times daily. Initially, 4-6 times daily; in the case of a strong tendency towards edema/hydrops, should be administered for several days - undiluted. If symptoms do not improve, the dose should be increased. After improvement, the dose may be reduced to 20 drops, 3 times daily. Following convalescence, for tonification, a treatment of 10-20 drops 2-3 times daily should be continued for an extended period of time. Overdosing presents no danger.

NoteR3 may be used during convalescence for an extended period, only after complete disappearance of the edema (through the administration of a more specific, active remedy).

Acute myocardial weakness: 10-20 drops every 15 to 30 minutes.
