(aerial parts, flower) (standardized to 0.3% hypericin)
(equivalent to 3150 mg of dried herb)
(tested to contain approx. 3% hyperforin* in fresh extract)

Non-medicinal Ingredients:
Microcrystalline cellulose, L-leucine, pullulan/hypromellose (capsule)

*What is Hyperforin?
Hyperforin is believed to be the primary active constituent responsible for the antidepressant and anxiolytic properties of the extracts of St. John's wort (SJW). It acts as a reuptake inhibitor of monoamines, including serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, and of GABA and glutamate. It is also believed that hyperforin may be actually responsible for inducing the P450 liver enzymes, which may increase the metabolism of other drugs in the body.

However, hyperforin is a very unstable compound and is degraded by light and oxygen exposure very quickly; therefore, hyperforin is often not standardized because the storage time will change its content. SJW is mostly standardized in hypericin because it is much more stable.
