R51 Thyroid gland intoxication, hyperthyroidism
Indications
Hyperthyroidism, thyrotoxicosis, Basedow’s disease, intoxication of the thyroid gland causing: tremors of the hands, exophthalmos, nervousness, increased activity, increased sweating, hypersensitivity to heat, fatigue, weakness, increased appetite, weight loss, palpations, tachycardia, insomnia, diarrhea.
Mode of action
Belladonna: Mydriasis and elevation of the pulse; vascular congestion; hot perspiration primarily on the face.
Hekla lava: Exostosis in any region of the body.
Iodium: Acceleration of metabolism; restlessness; increased hunger; increased heat; exophthalmus; goitre; emaciation.
Lapis albus: Afflictions of the glands; goitre; increased appetite.
Lycopus virginicus: Violent palpations of the heart, tachycardia, arrhythmia; goitre, exophthalmus.
Natrium chloratum: Effective for palpitations at night, emaciation, and irritability. Goiter and thyroid conditions.
Remedies to be considered
Note that any concurrent treatment with iodized salts, iodine, or hormones (glandular substances) should be suspended, as these substances are liable to interact with R51 cause an acute aggravation.
Some patients sensitive to homeopathic remedies may experience a primary reaction, due to the dilution factor. In cases such as these, treatment should be interrupted for 2-3 days.
Clinical experience
To regulate glandular function, administer in conjunction with R19 (men) / R20 (women).
Ingredients
Belladonna D30 1 g, Hekla lava D12 1 g, Iodum D30 1 g, Lapis albus D12 1 g, Lycopus virginicus D12 1 g, Natrium chloratum D30 1 g.
Non-medicinal ingredients: ethanol, purified water.
Dosage
Adults 5-10 drops 1-3 times daily in a little water or undiluted or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
