Traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve respiratory disorders (such as coughs, bronchial illness/bronchitis) and as an expectorant (helps reduce excess mucus from the upper respiratory tract).


Description

Mode of action:

HOREHOUND (Marrubium vulgare) – Family: Lamiaceae
Horehound is a powerful expectorant, effective for all respiratory difficulties (bronchitis, asthma, dry cough, whooping cough); it makes mucous more fluid. Pectin and mucilage soothes the mucous membranes. It is also effective for bronchiectasis (pathological dilatation of the bronchi).
MARSHMALLOW (Althaea officinalis) – Family: Malvaceae
Rich in mucilage, its emollient properties soothes irritated mucous membranes associated with dry cough, bronchitis, tracheitis or with irritating secretions. Marshmallow also calms asthma symptoms and helps the abundant secretions contained in the bronchus.
ELECAMPANE (Inula helenium) – Family: Asteraceae
Elecampane is one of the best known antiseptic plants. The alantolactone that it contains has anti-inflammatory actions. It reduces mucous build-up and stimulates the immune system. As an expectorant, this herb facilitates the expulsion of mucous in the bronchial tracts. It soothes the bronchioles. It has been used for a long time to care for influenza and even tuberculosis.
WILD THYME (Thymus serpyllum) – Family: Lamiaceae
Wild thyme is one of the powerful antiseptic plants. For centuries it has been known to soothe / calm symptoms of a cold, flu, sore throat, cough (whooping), bronchitis, and all pulmonary infections. It helps to liquefy mucous secretions and to decongest sinuses.
HYSSOP (Hyssopus officinalis) – Family: Lamiaceae
Used as an expectorant to help relieve excess mucous of the respiratory passages (anti-catarrhal). Helps to relieve flatulence/to help expel intestinal gas (carminative). Used as a digestive tonic/digestive aid (stimulant).
GROUND IVY (Glechoma hederacea) – Family: Lamiaceae
Used to aid digestion (stomachic). Used as an expectorant to help relieve coughs, mucous production (anticatarrhal) and bronchial afflictions. Used as an astringent to help relieve diarrhea. Used as a diuretic. Used to help relieve hemorrhoids.
LANCELEAF PLANTAIN (Plantago lanceolata) – Family: Plantaginaceae
Calms cough, has an emollient action on the respiratory mucous membranes. Also has an expectorant action (encourages the expulsion of mucous obstructing the airways).

Non-medicinal ingredients: 50% organic ethyl alcohol, water.

Dosage:

Adults: 15 drops 3-5 times daily in a little water for a few hours before or after taking medications or natural health products.

Cautions:

  • If symptoms persist, worsen or if cough persists, consult a health care practitioner or a doctor.
  • If you have heart disease, high or low blood pressure, kidney or liver disorder, diabetes or edema (swelling of hands, face and feet) or are taking products containing diuretics, do not use this product.
  • Discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner immediately if dizziness, mental confusion, weakness or muscle pain, irregular heart beat and /or difficulty breathing.

Contraindications:

  • Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • May cause allergic reaction, especially in people with an allergy or sensitivity to other plants in the Asteraceae

Known adverse reactions:

  • Upset stomach, nausea and diarrhea.
  • An allergic reaction may occur.

Interactions with other drugs:

  • This product may interact with other medicines administered concurrently, particularly those with similar or opposite effects.
